Choreographer
Matilda delves deep into research for all of her projects and allows many undaunted ideas to arrive from her extensive investigations. Through her company 'East Lab Dance Company' she has recently received Arts Council England funding to develop a children's dance theatre work 'Frocks, socks and the orange fox'. During her MA, Matilda choreographed a thirty-minute piece for her masters in dance and choreography, in which she was interested in looking at the way performance can become a visual or kinesthetic learning experience. During her BA, Matilda choreographed a ten-minute piece, surrounding the life cycle using props as inspiration.
Understanding ELIZA
Understanding ELIZA was a master's project choreographed by Matilda, in which audience members were taught how lateral flow tests work through movement. Using a fusion of dance and science, the audience were taken on a visual learning experience. This piece created a unique and quirky repertoire of movement, which audiences felt helped them to understand the science.
