About
Matilda has been dancing a variety of styles from commercial jazz, ballet, acrobatics, and other styles from the age of three. She attended Bilborough college in Nottingham leaving with A levels in dance drama and biology, after studying with ex-Rambert dancer Damian Hurst.
Matilda went on to receive a first-class honors degree in Dance from the University of Derby, based at Deda, performing works from Constella opera ballet, Johhny Autin, and more. Due to organising events and social media for the course, Matilda received a Vice Chancellor award for her additional hard work during her studies.
Matilda has recently completed her Masters in Dance and Choreography at Deda, creating her own thirty-minute work, fusing dance and science, which she hopes to take into school settings enabling a visual learning experience for students.
Through Matilda's company, 'East Lab Dance Company' she has recently received Arts Council England funding for her new children's dance theatre piece 'Frocks, socks and the orange fox'.
As a member of Deda's board of trustees, Matilda aims to help shape the dance community within the Derbyshire area and put across the voice of young people.
